The List ~ The Other List
in a perfect world i might link to counts of those slain since the dawn of time, willingly or no, in the name of god and, ideologically- or ecomonically-speaking, country... save that in a perfect world, i would be spared such a need.

Joyeux Paschal!

how did i celebrate easter, you might ask? well, there was a decided and painfully evident dearth of chicks, not to mention Bunnies... i went to work. then, as with every sunday, my fellow ewos and i ticked yet another week off the calendar in one another's company, sucking on fake beer and cuban cigars, and playing five-dollar buy-in poker. we actually have a felt table and a nice set of clay chips; it's darn near respectable. this weekend we spun boondock saints, which was actually rather ironically apropos given its heavy christian imagery and theme of redemption via the "vengeful striking hammer of god" (good stuff!)... i wish i could take credit for the choice, but it was playing when i arrived on scene.

in other news, river took out the other two scorpions this weekend! i suppose our the little munchmachine, having discovered a taste for chitinous exoskeleton (and its chewy center), decided to gorge himself like a kiddo on candy at easter. either that, or having discovered how easy it was to kill (like connor and murphy mcmanus dropping through the ceiling) the evil-looking buggers, our little creature self-styled himself the cute and cuddly teeth of god and went on a tear. heck, i even spilled some water on him when i was filling his bottlecap (from a good foot and a half in the air... i sure as hell ain't sitckin' my hand in a cageful of scorpions and psychotic mouse)--maybe that was his own little annointing scene. i mean, the terrarium is not unlike a jail cell.

watch the film. the above will all make sense. trust me.

i finally have a way to download from my compact flash card to my computer... thanks, soule sister! stand by for some photo updates...

the below were taken at a miniature oasis my army scout friend and i located on the coalition side of taji. it's a "one stop shop" run by some young phillipina ladies where i also found some girly candles: pineapple peel and lime&ginger... yum! i may be slightly unfair in characterizing this place as a desert, as it is, after all, the tigris valley, and supposedly the remnants of the fabled garden; i am positively staggered by what a little regular watering can achieve.

in my easter bonnet, with all the frills upon't.

Are you trying to hide behind that fence? Because you're doing a miserable job. Maybe you were right. A few weeks of training aren't going to cut it.

The addition of your high-tech daguerrotypes is a great new development in blogdom. Also, the juxtaposition of the miniature white picket fence and the automatic rifle must be some sort of statement, conscious or no.

Wow.. not just a 727 but a regular M4, complete with SOPMOD kit and ACOG. That's an expensive piece of kit... And is that a PEQ-2? I'm jealous. But what happened to Sandy? Don't you rate a backup piece?

Oh -- nice flowers by the way. Oleander is one of those "hardy," "low-water" varieties -- that's why they plant them along the freeways in California. Just don't eat it.

Glad to hear you've found the local Filipina "one stop shop..." Guess somethings are universal...
