Many lines from various Vonnegut works came to mind. The first to flash through my memory upon hearing "the news" on "Morning Edition" is from the front of "Cat's Cradle", a line that reads, "Nothing in this book is true" and, there I was, wishing that "nothing in this newscast is true" while wondering if Vonnegut was letting me in on The Joke just one last time and guessing that he was probably lying somewhere on his back, thumbing his nose at You Know Who.
